What are the advantages of being on the apprenticeship scheme?
The Apprenticeship Scheme at Aston Martin presents you with a variety of unique opportunities, one such opportunity is allowing you to study the theory of Engineering through University or College which you can then apply first-hand back to your workplace. In addition, through the Apprenticeship Scheme you gain 4 years of work experience as you move around the business working with a myriad of different departments, each of which helping to increase your knowledge and skills in Engineering.
How has the apprenticeship scheme helped you to develop?
Before Aston Martin and before my Apprenticeship I wanted to improve both time management and communication. Through working in a professional environment, by getting involved in various projects and by collaborating with other engineers, I have seen both disciplines improve. I have been fortunate enough to teach Sixth Form students studying engineering, various tools and techniques used within Aston Martin, therefore, allowing me to put communication into practice. At Aston Martin, through the apprenticeship scheme, you will develop in knowledge, skills and behaviours that are essential for working in the automotive industry.
Would you recommend being an apprentice with Aston Martin? I would of course recommend an apprenticeship with Aston Martin as the past 4 years have been so valuable to me, giving me a real head-start in my career as an aspiring engineer. Working on a range of ultra-luxury Aston Martins will help you gain hands-on, practical experience where you learn the right skills for the job. Alongside working at Aston Martin, you’ll be studying for an Engineering qualification funded by the company, allowing you to gain a deeper knowledge of different sectors of Engineering.
Why did you choose to apply for the apprenticeship scheme?
When studying Engineering at Sixth Form, I was fortunate enough to be given a project by Aston Martin. The project was not only enjoyable but got me to think like an engineer and so from there I wanted to pursue a career in Automotive Engineering. However, there are many different areas that you can go into in Automotive Engineering, so to explore what I was best suited to I wanted to do an Apprenticeship and what better place to do that than at Aston Martin.

Is there a specific moment or achievement that stands out as a proud milestone in your journey?
From day one I felt welcomed, and I received the support that I needed in this journey of development and professional growth. In November 2024 I received the employee of the month award in Procurement. I was flattered to receive this recognition especially because it came from my peers.
What do you think sets Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme apart from others in the industry?
I think the brand identity is one of a kind. It’s a small company compared with others into automotive industry. Because of that it's more personal as a business, with a real exposure to different projects and opportunities to work in transversal teams – this can be unique and hard to find somewhere else. I have been given lots of responsibility in the short time I have had here and got the sufficient support I needed to continue to develop at Aston Martin.
What made you choose Aston Martin and its Apprenticeship Scheme to start your career?
I have always been interested in luxury cars, and I knew Aston Martin was one of the most prestigious brands, an icon in the British and worldwide automotive industry. Also, when I saw that Aston Martin came back into F1, it made me really want to get involved and extended my love for the brand even more!
Looking ahead, what do you hope to accomplish, and how does Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme support you in reaching those goals?
My long-term goal is to stay in Procurement and find myself a role at Aston Martin. I got the chance to rotate to different departments during my apprenticeship, gaining exposure to different areas in both Procurement and the large business. I always felt supported by managers and colleagues, which increased my confidence and desire to succeed.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING APPRENTICE

Is there a specific moment or achievement that stands out as a proud milestone in your journey?
I would say that my proudest moment so far working at Aston Martin is being able to say that I helped during the production process of the first ever new Vanquishes. I have been given a lot of responsibility in my role to help make decisions and aim to improve production processes.
What do you think sets Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme apart from others in the industry?
I think the level of involvement you get from day one. I thought when I joined the apprenticeship, it would start of being low level with not much responsibility, however I have been thrown into tasks with the necessary support and been very hands on. Due to Aston Martin being a smaller company in comparison to industry competitors, I am able to experience many areas and get a wide understanding of how sports car manufacturers function.
What made you choose Aston Martin and its Apprenticeship Scheme to start your career?
As a young female aspiring engineer, Aston Martin’s apprenticeship scheme stood out as a chance to enter the automotive industry, and become part of a greatly prestigious company. I think Aston Martin offered me an exceptional opportunity to develop my knowledge by studying for my degree, alongside gaining so much hands on experience within the customer-focused production environment.
Looking ahead, what do you hope to accomplish, and how does Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme support you in reaching those goals?
In the future, I aim to continue my development across different areas of manufacturing engineering, supporting upcoming projects and making connections within the business. As an apprentice, there is the flexibility to explore different aspects of the company, so making the most of these four years means I can end my course with not only the academic knowledge, but also a great overview of Aston Martin’s values and working processes. I would like to continue working within the manufacturing engineering team and progress into roles with more responsibilities, as well as supporting other females into the engineering industry where I can.
What advice would you give to students considering Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme?
I would say to take the opportunity and apply! Not only does working here open a lot of doors for future opportunities, but the support you are given allows you to develop skills and build confidence. Starting a full time job whilst also studying for a degree can be overwhelming to consider, but you are given the time to study when required, and the support system within Aston Martin makes the whole process a lot easier to adjust into. From other apprentices in the same position as me, to colleagues within my team, everyone is willing to help and push you to get the most learning out of the apprenticeship.

Is there a specific moment or achievement that stands out as a proud milestone in your journey?
I have had a few opportunities. I did a video with Laura Trott for National Apprenticeship Week and got to visit Parliament and meet some of the MPS. It gave me a good opportunity to network and meet people. I am currently working on Valhalla, which has been enjoyable. I have also had the chance to go out and visit schools in the local area and chat with other people of similar age about my experience here at Aston.
What do you think sets Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme apart from others in the industry?
Aston Martin is an ultra-luxury brand. It has so much history behind it, with James Bond as an iconic image. Working at other companies, they might not have as much history with the brand, so that is important to me. In terms of employees, Aston is a small company, so it makes the brand feel more personable. I find there is not a huge gap between senior management and myself, making it feel like a close and personal place to work.
What made you choose Aston Martin and its Apprenticeship Scheme to start your career?
The Brand has an amazing history behind it, and I was drawn to it. I think having the chance to work with cool supercars and get exposure to different areas of the business to see how it all works is exciting. With lots of projects coming up and launching in the next few years, seeing this unfold makes Aston Martin an exciting place to work. It’s an amazing time to join the team.
Looking ahead, what do you hope to accomplish, and how does Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme support you in reaching those goals?
After my apprenticeship, I’d like to stay at Aston. I wouldn’t want to leave, and I love my team. I want to continue my work in Procurement, progress through the ranks and keep working on my skills. I would like to one day become Chief Procurement Officer, potentially in 30/40 years for Aston Martin.
What advice would you give to students considering Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Program?
Apply and do it! It’s a great place to start learning and on the job, too, while also getting a degree! I’d also say to students to keep an open mind when applying. As you learn on the job, go with it, be passionate about learning, and ask questions. I didn’t know what Procurement was at first, and now I’m really enjoying it.

COMMERCIAL, EVENTS, AND MARKETING DEGREE APPRENTICE

Is there a specific moment or achievement that stands out as a proud milestone in your journey?
Aston Martin provides many opportunities for personal development, making it challenging to pinpoint a specific moment that stands out. However, I am particularly proud of my contribution to the UK Vantage Launch Event, held at Raffles London in 2024, as this was my first major event that I helped plan and host. I was extremely impressed by the level of luxury portrayed; it was nothing like I had experienced before.
What do you think sets Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme apart from others in the industry?
Aston Martin has a rich, prestigious history accompanied by a modern and luxurious business ethos – a rare and desirable standard to possess. Being able to work for a company that upholds these values is no doubt beneficial for career progression, but also in terms of job satisfaction, as I feel proud to say I work for Aston Martin.
Additionally, Aston Martin values each individual apprentice. There is a high level of time and effort put into each journey, meaning personal development is maximised during our time here. Moreover, there are many opportunities to move around the business, ensuring every apprentice gains a multitude of different skills, and a greater understanding of the wider business.
What made you choose Aston Martin and its Apprenticeship Scheme to start your career?
Being able to gain a degree, whilst working in an industry I am passionate about, was very compelling. Before being employed at Aston Martin, I worked in a job I thoroughly enjoyed however, when the apprenticeship was advertised online, I knew it was a fantastic opportunity. To be honest when applying, initially I was hesitant however, I was thrilled and surprised when the position was offered to me. I can confidently say that accepting the apprenticeship was the right decision, as I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment whilst working here.
Looking ahead, what do you hope to accomplish, and how does Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme support you in reaching those goals?
I hope to expand my knowledge and skills further and make new connections with other teams. Aston Martin supports this goal not only by offering rotations, but also by providing external opportunities such as visits to Parliament, the Aston Martin Formula 1 Team Factory, career fairs and so much more.
Furthermore, I am aiming towards a first in my Management and Leadership Degree at university. I am fortunate to receive a multitude of support from my manager, for example, she will reduce my workload when I have an upcoming assignment, allowing time for me to complete some university projects during working hours.
What advice would you give to students considering Aston Martin’s Apprenticeship Scheme?
The main things that concerned me, when considering the apprenticeship, was the fact I had to move far from my friends and family, and a 4-year programme seemed like a huge commitment at the time. Surprisingly, once you start, 4 years does not seem like enough time! Whilst yes, a degree apprenticeship does require hard work and effort, the benefits you will receive outweigh any negatives.
Finally, Aston Martin offers a 2-week induction with other apprentices, meaning you can make new friends with people who are of a similar age, and have the same interests. Subsequently, I don’t feel as though I have completely missed out on the ‘university experience’ as I still am able to spend time with my new friends outside of work.
